CTEVT Observes its 35th Annual Day

The Minister for Communication and Information Technology Hon’ble Rekha Sharma inaugurated the 35th CTEVT annual day by lighting a smart lamp with the help of an app on February 24, 2023 in Sanothimi, Bhaktapur. Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) observes its annual day on Falgun 12 every year. As the Chief Guest of the program, she thanked CTEVT for preparing the basic and middle level skilled human resources required for the country. She said that there is a huge demand of skilled workforce in the national and international market. She assured that the government is ready to facilitate CTEVT in ensuring the quality of TVET. She pointed out, “We all should be aware not only of our rights but also of our duties and obligations.”

The Member Secretary of CTEVT, Mr. Jeeb Narayan Kafle, welcomed all the guests and attendants of the program. He highlighted the key progress of CTEVT focusing the last fiscal year (2078/079) and presented the future directions. He stressed the importance of quality assurance in TVET and the need for federal TVET Act. The special guest of the program, the Secretary of Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST), Mr. Ram Krishna Subedi, stated that the Ministry is ready to facilitate CTEVT to run its programs as per its strategic plan. Speaking at the program, Hon’ble member of National Planning Commission, Prof. Dr. Sangeeta Singh expressed her best wishes for the success of the program. Likewise, the Vice Chairperson of Medical Education Commission, Prof. Dr. Shreekrishna Giri, stressed the need for strong collaboration between MEC and CTEVT to prepare better quality health professionals.

In the program, the Hon’ble Minister for Communication and Information Technology released the Journal of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). The Chief Guest also distributed awards to the best employees of CTEVT and the meritorious students. Among the CTEVT employees, Er. Paras Khadka (Principal of Tikapur Polytechnic Institute, Kailali) received the best employee award with NRs. 50,000. Likewise, Mr. Raman Kumar Mehata (Principal of Nirmal Lama Polytechnic Institute, Khayarmara, Mahottari), Mr. Dil Bahadur Ghimire (Deputy Director, TECS Division, CTEVT), Mrs. Bina Poudel (Officer, Office of the Controller of Examinations, CTEVT), and Tika Ram Rai (Administrative Assistant, Uttarpani Technical School, Dhankuta) were also awarded as the best performers with NRs 25,000 each.

The students who achieved the highest score in the PCL/Diploma level from three fields, viz. health, engineering and other sectors were also awarded each with a certificate and cash prize of NRs 10,000 during the program. Ms. Unisha Ojha, who scored 92.19% in PCL Nursing from Neuro Cardio and Multispecialty Hospital, Biratnagar, got the best achiever prize from the health sector. Likewise, Arun Malashi, who scored 89.74% in Diploma in Civil Engineering from Seti Technical School, Doti, got the prize from the engineering sector. Similarly, Reshma Dahal securing 90.16% in Diploma in Agriculture (Plant Science) from Madan Bhandari Memorial Academy, Urlabari, Morang, won the best achiever prize from the other sector. On the occasion, 22 CTEVT employees who got retired after the last CTEVT annual day also got a letter of appreciation from the chief guest.

Finally, the Vice Chairperson of CTEVT, Mr. Khagendra Prasad Adhikari, thanked all the guests, employees and participants for their effort and time to make the program successful. The students along with the instructors from Nepal Banepa Polytechnic Institute, Banepa, Ramechhap Polytechnic Institute, Manthali, Ramechhap, Balaju School of Engineering and Technology, Kathmandu, and Shankharapur Polytechnic Institute, Sankhu, Kathmandu, exhibited their skills through their products. The guests and the visitors observed their products with curiosity and bought some of their products.
