Council Approved Some Important Documents

As per the decision of the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) dated 2082/08/17, the following important documents have been approved:

(1) National TVET Curriculum Framework (NTCF):

The Council has approved the National TVET Curriculum Framework. This framework defines the national standards to be followed while developing TVET curricula for various levels. The framework has the provision that various government bodies, industries/businesses, and related institutions can develop TVET curricula based on the needs of the labor market in accordance with the standards set by the curriculum framework. However, any curriculum developed must receive approval from the authorized body before implementation. It is expected that the implementation of this framework will bring uniformity in the principles, processes, and formats to be followed while developing curricula. The framework also provides clear guidelines for curriculum implementation and evaluation.

(2) Apprenticeship Training Operation Directive, 2082

This directive provides guidelines for operating diploma-level apprenticeship training. According to the provisions in this directive, the duration of diploma-level apprenticeship training will be 3 years (36 months). The directive mandates that diploma-level industrial apprenticeship programs will be operated in a modular basis. Additionally, industries interested in conducting apprenticeship training may obtain permission if they meet the standards set by the Council. The Council has been conducting 24-month apprenticeship training in various subjects at the pre-diploma level for some years.

(3) Manual for TVET Institutional Accreditation, 2082

To implement the Regulation on the Accreditation of Technical Institutions, 2081, the Council has approved the Manual for TVET Institutional Accreditation, 2082. This manual elaborates the bases for assigning weightage to the criteria and indicators used for accreditation of TVET institutions. The accreditation system will serve as an important foundation for improving the quality of educational institutions. Institutions will be classified into four levels as a result of accreditation:

(i) ‘Ka’ – Outstanding (90% or above)

(ii) ‘Kha’ – Excellent (80% to less than 90%)

(iii) ‘Ga’ – Good (70% to less than 80%)

(iv) ‘Gha’ – Satisfactory (60% to less than 70%)
