42nd Management Review Conference of CTEVT Commences at Sauraha, Chitwan

The 42nd Management Review Conference of the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) has commenced in Sauraha, Chitwan. Scheduled to take place from 6 December to 8 December 2024, the conference aims to review the programs conducted by the council in the past year and formulate future plans. The event will feature presentations focused on pressing issues related to technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in Nepal. The themes for presentations include governance and staff management, alignment between curricula and training, quality and affordable TVET, examination system, scholarships, and fee management, as well as strategies for attracting students to technical education and the concept of the model polytechnic institution. Group discussions will also be held on these topics to prepare concrete action plans during the program. In the program, there will be presentations from two keynote speakers. 

The conference was inaugurated by the Honorable Minister for Education, Science, and Technology, Ms. Vidya Bhattarai. She emphasized the importance of self-assessment by officials and institutions to outline future directions in the TVET sector. Highlighting TVET as a foundation for national development, she stressed the need for quality programs that ensure employment opportunities after graduation. The minister also urged the identification of employment-generating sectors within the country and linking curricula and learning processes to the world of work. She directed all officials in leadership roles to maintain transparency, accountability, and credibility in their operations, providing services without succumbing to pressure or influence. The minister shared progress about the federal TVET bill, which aims to establish a strong mechanism for collaboration among the three tiers of government for the effective management and implementation of technical education programs. She also called for coordination with industries, businesses, employers, and universities to facilitate employment and access to further education of the TVET graduates.

The conference inaugural ceremony was chaired by the Vice-Chairperson of CTEVT, Prof. Dr. Om Prasad Baral. The Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, Dr. Deepak Kafle, CTEVT Member Secretary, Er. Mahesh Bhattarai, and Chief District Officer of Chitwan, Mr. Prakash Poudel delivered their remarks and viewed that the discussions held during the conference would help the council achieve a new height in the future. Participants of the event included directors from CTEVT offices, principals from 66 constituent schools of CTEVT, and other employees.
