38th CTEVT Day Observed with Emphasis on Quality Assurance in TVET
The 38th CTEVT Day was observed on Falgun 12 in the presence of the Honorable Member of the National Planning Commission (NPC), Prof. Dr. Suniti Shrestha Hada. The event was chaired by Dr. Mohammad Safiullah, Vice Chairperson of CTEVT.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Hada expressed her best wishes for the continued and dynamic future of CTEVT. She described it as an important educational institution that produces basic and mid-level technical human resources essential for the country’s development. Reviewing CTEVT’s work, she emphasized the need to strengthen the capacity of professionals engaged in the TVET sector of Nepal. She encouraged the formation of alumni networks of technical and vocational education graduates to gather feedback and institutional support. She highlighted the importance of ensuring quality in TVET programs to increase enrollment, reduce dropout rates, and improve graduation and employment outcomes. She also stressed the need to develop technical graduates as entrepreneurs and innovators. Referring to CTEVT’s nationwide presence, she appreciated its efforts to provide scholarships and facilities to the disadvantaged and meritorious students. Citing the 16th Periodic Plan, which gives special priority to TVET, she underlined the need to establish and strengthen incubation centers in TVET institutions and to effectively implement the “earning while learning” program to promote entrepreneurship among learners.
Mr. Chudamani Paudel, Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST), extended his best wishes on the occasion of CTEVT Day. He emphasized the need to transform CTEVT into an institution that all stakeholders can take pride in by focusing on quality improvement and high performance in the coming years. He stated that a new Act is necessary to transform CTEVT in the federal context and expressed the Ministry’s continued support and commitment to its advancement. On the occasion, Er. Mahesh Bhattarai, Member Secretary of CTEVT, presented the CTEVT’s achievements, challenges, and future directions.
During the ceremony, the Journal of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (Volume 20, Issue 1), published by the Research and Information Division of CTEVT, was launched. The award recipients were Ms. Diya Tamang, a Proficiency Certificate Level Nursing student from Kalika Medical and Technical Institute, Gaindakot, who scored 92.94% (Health Faculty); Mr. Dip Raj Sah Teli, a Diploma in Geomatics Engineering student from the School of Geomatics, New Baneshwor, Kathmandu, who obtained 90.09% (Engineering Faculty); and Ms. Lajima Thebe, a Diploma in Forestry student from Ratna Kumar Bantawa Polytechnic Institute, Sankhejung, Ilam, who scored 90.15% (Other Faculty).
On the auspicious occasion of CTEVT Day, one employee was recognized as the Best Employee and four others were recognized as Outstanding Employees. Mr. Subas Oliya, Principal of Barpak Polytechnic Institute, Gorkha, received the Best Employee Award. The Outstanding Employee Awards were presented to Ms. Kabita Newa, Administrative Officer at CTEVT, Sanothimi; Mr. Dipak Kumar Chaudhary, Pharmacy Instructor at the School of Health Sciences, Chitwan; Mr. Hari Prasad Ghimire, Computer Assistant Instructor at CTEVT, Sanothimi; and Mr. Ratan Giri, Office Assistant at Bheri Technical School, Nepalgunj. In addition, 22 employees who retired from Council service during the past year were honored with certificates of appreciation.
The program also included remarks with best wishes from Mr. Sunil Chalise, President of the Forum for Health and Technical Science; representatives of trade unions active within CTEVT; Mr. Chandrabhakta Nakarmi, President of the Former CTEVT Employees’ Association; and Er. Ana Raj Silwal, Member of CTEVT. On the occasion, guests and participants observed exhibition stalls set up by Balaju School of Engineering and Technology, Kathmandu; Shankharapur Polytechnic Institute, Kathmandu; Ganeshman Singh Memorial Polytechnic Institute, Kathmandu; Nepal Banepa Polytechnic Institute, Kavre; Post Bahadur Bogati Polytechnic Institute, Nuwakot; Training Institute for Technical Instruction (TITI), Sanothimi; Research and Information Division, CTEVT; and projects operating under CTEVT. On Falgun 12, CTEVT’s provincial offices and institutions across the country also celebrated CTEVT Day by organizing various programs.
